Follow coach Mike Faith and the Lady Diplomats through a fast-paced, high energy practice with an emphasis on increasing quality drill reps within a shortened time frame.
Discover 13 drills you can use to train stick work, ground balls, offense, defense, unsettled, and transition play.
Inspired by legendary Salisbury men's coach Jim Berkman (Faith was a First Team All-American at Salisbury), Faith uses a progressive drill sequence emphasizing maximum touches. He teaches his favorites drills from four categories:
- Stick work drills
- Shooting drills
- Small-sided drills
- Full field drills
Each drill is diagrammed and demonstrated and suitable for teams at any level -- college, high school, or youth.
Faith's stick work drills, used at the start of every practice, offer a new twist on two-player partner passing utilizing different techniques designed to work and build left and right wrist strength and control. He includes two creative drills for ball handling on the run that put athletes into game-like repetitions that work on passing fundamentals, pivoting and running through a pass.
Four shooting drills develop technique for finishing inside the arc. These drills will develop shooting form, on-the-run shooting, feeding and scoring off of cuts, and the ability to shoot around defenders.
Small-sided drills put a handful of players together into a snapshot of a game situations. You will enjoy Coach Faith's unique arrangements of the old-standby 3-v-2 and 4-v-3 drills. Or, use the Basketball Drill to get your athletes organizing on the fly when crashing into the hole in defensive transition or challenge your players to make successful ball exchanges in tight space under pressure with the Guts Drill.
You'll get built-in conditioning with Faith's demanding full field drills, which will force your players to convert quickly from offense to defense and back again while moving the ball up and down the field.
With this DVD, you can develop and run effective practices that cover all aspects of the game with high intensity. These drills are easy to understand and implement, and flexible enough that you customize to fit your team's dynamics.
